Sheeran, who won a copyright lawsuit with the Supreme Court in London on Wednesday over her hit “Shape Of You” in 2017, has three nominations. The other two are in the running for the most played work for the hits “Bad Habits” and “Shivers”
This category also includes the leading charts of Elton John and Duo Lip “Cold Heart”, “Little Bit of Love” by Tom Grennan and “BED” by DJs David Guetta and Joel Corry with Ray.
Applicants for the best song musically and lyrically include Adele’s comeback singles “Easy on Me”, Sam Fender’s “Seventeen Going Under”, “All You Ever Wanted” by Rag`n`Bone Man, “Haunted” by Holly Humberstone House and ” Let’s Go Home Together “by Elly Henderson and Tom Grennan.
“It was an exceptional year for music and I am full of admiration for the 77 talented composers we are celebrating this year,” said Ivors singer-songwriter and jury member Shaznay Lewis.
“Their work and words touch a dizzying array of emotions, and I’m lucky to hear their stories.”
Recordings of the best album competitions are “Mother” by singer Cleo Sol, “Nine” by SAULT, “Pink Noise” by Laura Mvula, “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert” by rapper Little Simz and “Spare ribs” by the music duo Sleaford Mods.
PinkPantheress, Ashaine White, Luz, Naomi Kimpenu and Matilda Mann are nominated for the rising star award.
The drama “Spencer” with Kristen Stewart starring the late Princess Diana and the thriller “Last Night in Soho” are among the films recognized in the category of original music.
The awards, named after the Welsh composer, actor and entertainer Ivor Novell in the early 20th century, were first presented in 1956. The 67th edition will take place on 19 May in London.
