Kashmiri writings earned over 250 million Rs at the box office and managed to maintain a position against the historical epic RRR SS Rajamouli, which attacked the box office. It became the first Hindu film to do so in the midst of a pandemic. The film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in the first days of the uprising. They play Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi.
Despite receiving mixed to negative reviews, the film performed phenomenally well at the box office, mainly due to its strong oral presentation. Kashmiri writings have been declared tax-free in several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Goy, Tripura and Uttarakhandu. It has received thumbs up from several celebrities, including Hansal Mehta and Karan Johan, who have called it a “movement.”
