Actor Siddharth, who spoke out against his views, has now reportedly made a new statement that the word “Mr. Indian” is a disrespectful word. In the interview, the actor allegedly asked why not consider films only as Indian films and why classify them as regions. He added that the word “panindic” appeared for this reason. He said the term Mr. Indian is a disrespectful word because it is a term used to describe the fact that it is a regional film, which means it does not come from Bollywood. He allegedly said that this indirectly means that he does not have to qualify for Hindu films. He said it was nonsense because all the movies are Indian.
The actor reportedly noted that a few years ago in an interview he answered a question about cross-over Indian cinemas. Remembering the past, the actor said that at the time he asked why not watch films in other Indian languages and why not consider other regional language cinemas as Indian cinemas. Siddharth reportedly asked why there was no pan-Indian cinema 15 years ago. He added that the film ‘Roja’, made by Mani Ratnam, was watched all over India, although it was a Tamil film and no one said it was an Indian film.
The actor allegedly said in an interview that the term Mr. Indian should be removed and it should only be called an Indian film or otherwise refer to the language in which the film is.
