Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak play a couple with a dream to build their own house in the upcoming Disney Plus Hotstar series called Home Shanti. The story follows the lives of the comic Hindu columnist Umesh Joshi (Pahwa), his stoic wife Sarly Joshi (Pathak) and their two children. It follows the path of this indescribable middle-class Dehradun family and offers a heartfelt story that is general but specific to all who one day want to build their own home.
Talk about Home ShantiPahwa said the well-written script was a relief sigh amid the crime, underworld and mafia stories that dominate the OTT platforms.
“When I got this script and read it, I really liked it. The script of the web series right now focuses mainly on crime, the underworld, the mafia with rude expressions. I was relieved to read the Home Shanti screenplay. It was one web series that was family oriented and homely, which the whole family can enjoy. It was a well-written screenplay with a touch of comedy and emotion around the aspirations of a middle-class family. It immediately took effect, so I feel that I can be a part of it rather than doing something that is already being sought, “he said in a statement.
Supriya Pathak called Home Shanti a series of “slice of life”. “When I heard the script, I thought it was an interesting piece of life, and I felt I could accommodate this character,” she said.
The series, written by Akshay Asthana, Aakanksha Dua, Nidhi Bisht, Mayank Pandey, Nikhil Sachan and Saurabh Khanna, will be released on May 6 on the Disney Plus Hotstar.
