Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav will leave for Geneva on Wednesday for the International Labor Organisation’s annual conference. During his visit, the Minister will meet with representatives of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. As part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Center, Yadav is searching for 75 Ramsar sites in India until August 15 this year to coincide with the country’s 75 years of independence. Accreditation of the wetland as a Ramsar site identifies it as a site of international importance. India currently has 49 Ramsar sites. The ministry has already sent proposals to the Convention for 23 more, on Tuesday it sent three more.

State Secretary for Railways Raosaheb Patil Dave congratulated South Western Railway Officer Shreyasi Hosur on the social networks of completing the Ironman Triathlon – one of the most exhausting one-day races on the planet. Hosur completed a race consisting of 3.8 km of open water swimming, followed by 180 km of cycling and 42.2 km of running for the entire marathon in just 13 hours and 26 minutes. The Ironman races, which take place in Hamburg, Germany, are the most popular among triathletes.
