Former Kapil Sharma Show cast member Upasana Singh said that money is important in an artiste’s life, but only to a certain extent. After that, you need to satisfy creatively. She cited this as one of the reasons for her exit from The Kapil Sharma Show. Upasana also worked as a regular on Comedy Nights with Kapil, but in a new interview, she said that she quit working with the popular comedian because she didn’t have much to do.
She told Bollywood Hungama that she and Kapil are still good friends and that she told him to call her only if he has a good role for her. She said she was getting paid decently for her work on the show, but she just wasn’t happy with the job.
Upasana said in Hindi, “Money is important in everyone’s life, but up to a certain point. But after that point, job satisfaction is more important. When I started I was happy to take the job for the money, but I don’t think so anymore. Now I just want to do roles that satisfy me. That’s also what I tell my producers to give me roles that only I can do.”
She continued: “If someone can do the role you’re offering me, then I don’t even care about the money. I did Kapil’s show and it was the top show for over two years. But then there came a time when I felt like I had nothing more to do. I was well paid. But I told Kapil that I am not invited anymore. I asked him to either give me the roles I had when we started or let me go. Even today when I talk to Kapil, I tell him this. That he should only call me back when he’s doing something interesting for me.”
Earlier, in an interview with The Times of India, Upasana said that the reason behind her exit from Kapil’s show was not to break up with him, but due to contractual obligations. Kapil’s show is currently on hiatus and he is tour with his cast members in Canada. Upasana was recently seen in the Disney+ Hotstar series Masoom.
