Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and actor Kangana Ranaut worked together on the first film Simran, but their falling out during the making of the film affected the film badly. The film was critically panned and failed to impress the audience. Hansel has now returned to making Simran and admitted that he is working with Kangana was “a huge mistake. While he reaffirmed that she is a good actress, he also insisted that they did not fondle each other.
Hansal was asked if Kangana took over the editing of the film and the Scam 1992 director shared that there was nothing left to take over as they only shot what she wanted to shoot. “Edit download nahi kia the usne, to be fair to her but edit take over karne ke liye kuch tha nahi kyunki material hi vahi tha jo sleep shoot karvaya tha (She didn’t take over the editing, to be fair to her, but there was nothing to take over in the editing. We only had the material she shot),” he said in a chat with Mashable India recently.
Hansal said that Kangana is a “very talented actor” who limited herself by choosing a very specific kind of role. He said: “She’s a very talented actress, she’s a very good actress, a really really good actress who I feel has limited herself by making movies about herself. You don’t have to make all the characters become what you want to believe you are. “
Director Shahid then talked about Kangana’s recent song z Dhaakad titled “Burning” and said: “Abhi kuch gaana aaya uska… (She recently had a song…) it’s a woman on fire… you’re basically talking about yourself. You know these are the things you desire for yourself, put it out there. Nor is it my place to criticize her decision. She’s a big star even today and she’s a very good actress, that’s what I’m saying, and we didn’t get bored working with her. Working with her was a huge mistake.”
Hansal and Kangana had a public impact when Simran released in 2017. Since then, they have never worked together.
