Ayan shared a four-minute clip on Instagram where he talks about the creation of the Astraverse world, the powers he has and the hero Shiva, played by Ranbir Kapoor. He captioned the post: “VISION OF BRAHMĀSTRA – IN ENGLISH! Even though Brahmāstra is a fiction, my attempt was to celebrate Indian spirituality in my own way through this film. On this very auspicious day of Guru Purnima, I wanted to share a little more in depth about the concept Brahmāstra – a film that personally transformed me into an eternal student of the infinite wisdom that exists in our ancient Indian roots… I hope you enjoy our imagination.”
In the clip, director Ayan Mukerji can be seen calling the film a unique position to be in, saying, “No one has ever done what we’re doing with ancient Indian inspiration in the modern world.
Continuing to narrate the hero in Ranbir Kapoor’s essay, he says, “Our protagonist, a young man who has just discovered that he is a miracle in this world of aster. Because he himself is Astra – Agni Astra.’
The director then reveals the mystery behind the name of the protagonists when he says, “In keeping with our spirit of respect for our roots, he is named after the God who is personally dearest to me – the most mystical, the almighty, and my greatest inspiration – Shiva.”
In the clip, Ayan also talks about building the foundations of the universe of cinema in the last few years, which was based on the concept of aster – the Astraverse.
The director further adds Brahmastra part 1 is the first film of this Astraverse and starts from the mystical times in ancient India where a group of sages practiced deep meditation and were blessed with the light of the universe – “the most powerful and purest energy that exists”.
