The election to choose the next President of India is underway amid allegations of cross-voting in favor of Droupadi Murma. The BJP-led NDA candidate appeared to be ahead of opposition Yashwant Sinha even before the polls. While many predicted that Droupadi can win with maximum votes, Bollywood veteran actor Anupam Kher declared that she has won. The actor tweeted, “A sentence has been echoing in my mind over and over for the last few days. I thought I’d write it today! “I a citizen of India humbly declare #DraupadiMurmu ji the President of India” Jai Hind!”
MPs, legislators and legislators across the country voted to elect the next president, and by the time the voting closed, there were plenty of indications that Murmu was poised to win against Sinha. Among those who have cross-voted so far in the presidential election are NCP MLA Kandhal S Jadeja, Odisha Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim and also a Samajwadi Party leader, according to reports.
Maharashtra BJP leader Ashish Shelar had earlier expressed confidence in Droupadi Murmu and said, “The victory of NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu is certain. We have full confidence that she will win with record votes from Maharashtra,” Shelar said. ALSO READ: Supreme Court condemns Anupam Kher for accusing Nupur Sharma of Udaipur beheading? See his tweet
