Iconic global music festival Lollapalooza will make its debut in India in January next year, organizers announced on Wednesday.
The two-day music extravaganza will be held in Mumbai on January 28 and 29, entertainment and ticketing platform BookMyShow (BMS) said in a media statement.
BMS said it will headline Lollapalooza India as a promoter and co-producer for the Indian edition of the festival alongside global producers Perry Farrell, WME and C3 Presents.
Ashish Hemrajani, Founder and CEO, BookMyShow said they are proud to bring the music festival to India.
“BookMyShow is proud to bring Lollapalooza to India – making it the eighth country and fourth continent to do so. With the combination of stellar Indian talent and global artistes coming together on the same stage, we expect nothing but magic,” Hemrajani said in a statement.
Launched in 1991, the annual music festival Lollapalooza is globally synonymous with alternative lifestyle, music and culture.

For 31 years, Lollapalooza has traveled the world with seven locations on three continents hosting the event each year. Everyone feels at home at Lollapalooza, a festival that celebrates music culture, with inclusivity and unique experiences at the heart of it, the release said.
After many years as a traveling festival, Lollapalooza found its home in Chicago, USA and has grown to include annual editions in various culturally rich countries including Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France and Sweden with over 66 editions of the festival. until it comes to India in 2023, she said.
Perry Farrell, Founder, Lollapalooza said that they are excited about the Indian edition of Lollapalooza.

This music festival carries the legacy of changing the direction of alternative-rock music on the world stage. Lollapalooza is a melting pot of myriad genres including pop, rock, metal, punk rock and hip-hop, as well as indie, Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and techno, the release said.
Charlie Walker, partner of C3 Presents, said he was looking forward to introducing the music festival to Indian and Asian fans.

Lollapalooza India aims to bring together music enthusiasts across genres, entertainment enthusiasts, global and Indian audiences looking for unique and one-of-a-kind experiences of international standards.
Opening to over 60,000 fans each day, the inaugural Lollapalooza India will feature four stages with over 20 hours of unforgettable live music from some of the biggest global and local names.
Registrations for the Indian edition will be active http://lollaindia.com starting today and running through July 31st, fans can sign up for this musical extravaganza. Limited early bird tickets for pre-registered users will be launched on August 1, starting at Rs 7,000.
According to a press release, the star-studded line-up of artists for the first-ever Indian edition of the festival will be announced later this year.
