Alia Bhatt remembers her hit chat show in 2013
Alia Bhatt rose to fame with her debut film SOTY but she became a huge sensation among the audience after she appeared on a chat show in 2013 and wrongly named the President of India. While the then president was Pranab Mukherjee, Alia declared “Prithviraj Chouhan”, which soon became meme material for many.
Now, during a recent Indian Express event, Alia Bhatt recalled her past interview and first correctly named the current President of India as “Droupadi Murmu Ji.” She further reflected on how she loved the fact that people thought she was stupid. She even told all the young girls that she didn’t think general knowledge and book intelligence was intelligence, adding that one needed to have some emotional intelligence to survive in this world.
She said: “I love it when people think I’m unintelligent or ‘she’s so stupid’, they really do because they make so many memes about me that add to the popularity and then it’s like you love my movies. So maybe there’s something I’m doing right in the movie business…I also want to send this message to young girls – general knowledge and book intelligence is not intelligence in my opinion. To survive in the world, you have to have a certain emotional intelligence, which is perhaps the highest form of intelligence.”
Alia Bhatt also claimed to know the President’s correct name when asked the same on a chat show in 2013, adding that it was just confusing. She even revealed how her father advised her to be stupid rather than pretend to be intelligent. “My father says ‘better be stupid than pretend to be intelligent’. I had this conversation on July 23rd when someone asked me who is the president of India and I was like the ceremony hasn’t happened yet so I’m not sure what to say. So I’d rather not say anything… In my defense, I knew for the millionth time who was the President of India (in 2013). It was just confusing. If you put anyone on the spot and ask them to answer, all the wrong answers will come out,” she added.
