American rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon announced. He is accused of firing multiple shots at an ex-boyfriend in an encounter in Hollywood in November 2021, reports ‘Deadline’. “Discharging a firearm in a public place is a serious crime that could have resulted in tragic consequences not only for the targeted individual, but also for innocent bystanders in Hollywood,” Gascon said in a press release.
“My office has conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and has determined that the addition of a separate firearms charge is warranted.”
The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested in April 2022 in connection with the shooting. “The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries in the incident and later sought medical treatment. After the shooting, the suspect and two other males fled the area on foot.”
