Open Mic Night Good Neighbour, Canadian Kerala Cultural Association of Alberta and comedian Dara ÓBriain’s Voice of Reason Tour offer summer variety
It used to be that Edmonton called itself the Festival City and St. Albertans rushed to watch his events. But the pandemic forced us to reconsider our decision, and in the last two years the organizers of our urban entertainment have expanded their scope.
Next week will feature a diverse line-up of live entertainment artists from around the world.
Good neighbor night
A great strength of the Plaza Series at the Arden Theater is that it boasts some of the best singer-songwriters in the province. Whether it’s seasoned musicians or budding, raw talent, the series always creates a great atmosphere.
As summer draws to a close, visitors can find some of the best and brightest emerging singer-songwriters Good Neighbor Open Mic Night on Thursday, August 25.
Hosted by Amplify, it’s a celebration of 10 young singer-songwriters perfecting their craft. Performers include Nick Lumley, Trey Maruyama, Tommy Schaaf, Asher Halinda, Ayla Chin, Darragh McManus, Jaimi Rempel and Jake Alexander Souch. In addition, Ange Caroline and Amy Polczer are the hosts of the evening and will play a twenty-minute set.

Canada’s Kerala Cultural Association of Alberta is ready to bring a touch of India and the Middle East Mizhiv-22 on Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m
The dazzling multicultural extravaganza boasts a concert performance by young band Octave Remixed, some rhythmic moves from the University of Alberta Bollywood Dance Club and some Middle Eastern dances from Desert Rose Dance Studio. Another major highlight is the Shivamanohari School of Performing Arts with Indian classical dance.

Just for fun is pleased to announce Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain will be bringing hers Voice of Reason Tour to the Arden Theater on Wednesday, August 31.
Ó Briain is an Irish comedian and television presenter. He is one of the most recognized and sought-after figures in British stand-up comedy. In addition to stand-up, he moderated thematic panel shows such as Mock the Week, Star Gazing Live, Robot Wars, and Blockbusters.
Through Voice of Reason Tour, Ó Briain runs into problems with virtual reality, having too much technology at home, dealing with missing patrons in the front row, and processing news of your own demise.
