Actor Anushka Sharma he will be seen as cricketer Jhulan Goswami in the Prosit Roy Chakda Xpress directorial. On Netflix’s Films Day on Monday, the streaming platform released a BTS video of Anushka prepping for a film in the UK.
Dressed in sports gear, the actor said, “Hi, I’m Anushka Sharma, I’m currently training at a cricket ground in Leeds, UK for a very special film called Chakda Xpress. I play a role inspired by the life and times of legendary pacer and former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami.
She further revealed how the Chakda Xpress script was an eye opener for her. “I was completely captivated by the script. It was an eye opener to the world of women’s cricket for me and I’m sure it will be for all of you too.”
The Band Bajaa Baraat actor added, “And I’m sorry I couldn’t be there in person to launch this film. But we’re here to bring it to you soon. I am so excited that you are all watching this amazing story on screen. I literally have to run now because I’m in training, but I can’t wait to bring this movie to you all on Netflix.”
Chakda Xpress marks Anushka Sharma’s return to the silver screen after 2018’s Zero. Shot in India and UK, the film is produced by Clean Slate Filmz, which is now headed by Sharma’s brother Karnesh Sharma.
