Disney Star has licensed the Indian television broadcast rights for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s and Under-19 tournaments to ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd for four years.
Last week, Disney Star retained both the digital and TV rights from 2024 to 2027. ZEE was the bidder for the rights, Variety he understands. Earlier, Disney Star had ceded the digital rights of the lucrative Indian Premier League cricket tournament to a consortium led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Viacom18, retaining only the television rights.
Disney Star will continue to be the exclusive streaming home of all ICC tournaments in India through the Disney+ Hotstar streamer. The ICC approved the arrangement in principle, Disney Star said.
ZEE will now be the exclusive Indian TV rights holder for ICC Men’s events, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (2024, 2026), the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy (2025) and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup (2027) along with several ICC Under-19 events flight.
