Veteran actor Brendan Gleeson has joined Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix in the highly anticipated film Joker: Foil and Deuxfollowing on from Jokerblockbuster of 2019.
The 2019 film featured Phoenix as Arthur Fleck aka the Joker, the iconic nemesis of DC superhero Batman.
Pop star Lady Gaga, also known from films such as A star is born and House of Guccishe will play the role of Harley Quinn in the sequel.
Details about Gleeson’s character have been kept under wraps, according to entertainment news website Variety.
As opposed to dark and gritty Jokerthe sequel is created as a musical.
Filmmaker Todd Phillips returns to direct the second part. Co-written with Scott Silver.
Joker: Foil and Deux will be released by Warner Bros. Hollywood Studios on October 4, 2024.
Gleeson currently stars in Banshees of Inisherin from director Martin McDonagh, who previously directed the Irish actor in his critically acclaimed 2008 black comedy In Bruges.
Carla Gugino to star in HBO Max series The Girls On The Bus
Actress Carla Gugino is set to star alongside Melissa Benoist, Natasha Behnam and Christina Elmore in an HBO Max political series. Girls On The Bus.
According to the entertainment website Deadline, the show comes from Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions.
It centers on Sadie McCarthy (Benoist), a journalist who romances Tim Crouse’s ‘Boys on the Bus’ and throws her entire life away for her own attempt to cover the presidential campaign for a documentary.
“Sadie goes on a journey and ends up teaming up with three racers, Grace (Gugino), Lola (Behnam) and Kimberlyn (Elmore). Despite their differences, the women become a found family with a front row seat to the biggest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House,” the plot reads.
Gugin’s Grace Gordon Greene is a veteran reporter and Sadie’s friend and mentor.
The show is inspired by a chapter in Amy Chozick’s book He’s stalking Hillary. Chozick serves as writer and executive producer on the project along with Julie Plec. Rina Mimoun is on board as showrunner.
Sebastian Roche cast Taylor Sheridan in the 1923 Yellowstone prequel
Actor Sebastian Roche joined the cast of the 1923 Paramount Plus series.
The show is a prequel to the critically acclaimed series Yellowstonewith Taylor Sheridan attached to write and direct.
According to the entertainment website Deadline, Roche is known for appearing in series The young pope and The man in the high castlewas cast in a recurring role.
Details about his character are under wraps. The limited series stars Hollywood veterans Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.
It will follow the Dutton family in the titular year, during Prohibition, the Great Depression and westward expansion.
Sheridan is attached as an executive producer for the show, along with John Linson, Art Linson, David C Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson.
The series is currently in production in Montana and will premiere on OTT in December.
