India all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been picked in India ‘A’ squad for the ongoing series against New Zealand ‘A’ after Prasidh Krishna was injured.
Krishna suffered a back spasm and did not feature even in the first four-day match. Thakur, who was earlier named in the West Zone team in the Duleep Trophy, was named as his replacement on Sunday, Times of India reported.
Saurashtra seamer Chetan Sakaria was brought into the West Zone team to replace Thakur and play in the inter-zone tournament from 8 to 25 September.
Cricbuzz too reported that Thakur was on holiday in Thailand and an SOS had been sent to him to return immediately.
The first match between India ‘A’ and New Zealand ‘A’ ended in a draw after several mammoth batting centuries by both sides.
The next two four-day games will be played in Hubli and Bangalore from September 8 and 15.
