The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa, scheduled to begin on September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram. The Proteas will tour India ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup for three T20Is and as many ODIs.
Mohammed Shami was called up by the selectors while Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, who found a place in the T20 World Cup squad after passing the fitness test, were also included in the three-match tie. Rohit Sharma is all set to lead the side, KL Rahul will be named vice-captain.
“Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will report to the NCA for fitness work during the home series against Australia and South Africa,” the BCCI said in a statement.
While Arshdeep is not part of the squad for the Australia series, Hardik and Bhuvneshwar have been left out of the South Africa series due to their preparation.
The squad for the ODI series is yet to be announced.
