Preview: Legends League Cricket (LLC) carnival is all set to kick off in Kolkata from September 16 as cricket legends descended on the city of joy on Thursday.

A special charity match between India Maharajas and Team World Giants will kick-start the much-awaited league season in India for the first time in Kolkata on 16th September.

Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Muralitharan, who will represent Manipal Tigers, said in a press interaction in Kolkata on Thursday that he will look to get back his years of taking the field for his team. “We will play after a long time and the feeling of returning to the tournament is pulsating in us.”

“As former cricketers, we miss cricket and miss the feeling of playing amidst the hooting and cheering. I hope it becomes an annual event for all so that the younger bunch not only enjoy watching current cricketers but can also watch former cricketers and legends entertain them,” said the once feared rider.

With 90 cricketing greats in action, the league will feature 16 matches including a charity match.
Some of the leading names that would grace the tournament with their presence are Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Muttiah Muralitharan, Jacques Kallis, Chris Gayle and Brett Lee among others.

Proceeds from the benefit match will be donated to the Kapila Deva Khushii Foundation, which supports girls’ education.

Manipal Tigers and Bhilwara Kings are the other two franchises in the four-team league.
