The actor claimed in his Instagram Stories that he was disrespected by the hotel and that racism could be the reason. He wrote: “It’s not my habit to write something like this, but this time I feel like doing it: If you want to visit Seoul, NEVER go to Shilla Hotel. Probably the internal policy of this hotel teaches disrespect to people who come from a different culture.” than the Asian one. My parents taught me to respect everyone in front of me without judging anyone. I’m 32 years old and I’ve visited almost the whole world, but I’ve never been treated like this in a hotel (which I paid for)”.
“Other than that (this hotel), I’m incredibly in love with this culture, the food is insanely good and the people are so nice and kind to me, especially my fans! I love Seoul!” Morrone added.
Shilla Hotel Statement
Soon after Michele Morrone’s claim, the Shilla Hotel denied that there was a misunderstanding over the smoking issue. “We also have rooms that allow smoking. However, we cannot confirm to you what type of room Morrone stayed in as it is considered his personal information.”
“It is impossible for the hotel to favor only Asians. I think there was a misunderstanding between us. We have now resolved the misunderstanding and we understand that he has deleted the post from social media. We will always do our best to ensure that guests who they will stay with us, they will not be inconvenienced,” the statement added.
After the hotel responded to Morrone’s claims, Korean netizens were critical of the Italian actor.
