In the last two to three years, several remakes of South films have been released in Bollywood. Most of them failed at the box office. Especially Shahid Kapoor JerseyHrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s Vikram Vedha failed miserably at the box office. Ever since Bollywood movies started flopping at the box office, many viewers started trolling the makers asking them to bring some originality to their projects.

Boney Kapoor, who recently worked with Times of India, shared his views on why remakes don’t work at the box office. The Dear producer told the portal, “One of the reasons why Hindi remakes of some films from the south don’t work is because they are simply copied. Even the names are kept the same as in the original, as in the case Vikram Vedha and Jersey. Also In the remakes of south films, a north Indian nativity scene needs to be added to suit the Hindi audience. You have to make a film that will be accepted across India.”

For the uninitiated, a Shahid Kapoor film Jersey has been delayed several times due to COVID-19 issues. The makers were very firm on their decision to release the film. Coming back to Boney Kapoor’s statement, the producer’s views would definitely spark a hot topic of discussion on social media.
