Marvel’s latest screen offering ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ continues to dominate the global box office two weeks after its release. But did you know that the superhero movie has a Native American connection? Famous Indian fashion designer JJ Valaya was responsible for creating many of the costumes for the film.
On Tuesday, the Indian fashion designer took to Instagram to reveal some of the designs he created with designer Ruth E Carter.
Working with Carter, JJ Valaya created some excellent designs for actress Angela Bassett, who played Queen Ramonda in the film.
Valaya shared some images from the film on his official Instagram page, writing, “We are very proud to showcase the fabulous results of our collaboration with the talented and Oscar-winning costume designer RUTH CARTER on BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER. House of Valaya worked closely with @therealruthecarter to create some very special pieces for the character of Queen Ramonda, played on screen by the perfect Angela Bassett @im.angelabassett. We look forward to many more magical connections with Mrs. Carter and Hollywood. We request everyone to go and witness this spectacle on the big screen to truly enjoy the magnificence. Special thanks also to @stacy_r_caballero for being an amazing part of this association and helping us pull it all together so seamlessly.”
The images, which were shared on Instagram, showed Bassett dressed in all white in one image, a black headpiece and purple gown in another, and an elaborate red gown with a matching sequin jacket in another photo.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ hits the big screen on November 11, 2022.
