Vijayendra Prasadthe author of the story RRR and director SS Rajamouli’s father admitted in an interview that he was disappointed when the period action film was not selected as India’s official entry for the upcoming Oscars. In an interview with Pinkvilla, the veteran screenwriter said, “Yes, I was disappointed, but unfortunately I cannot express my disappointment.”
But that hasn’t deterred Vijayendra Prasad, who is confident that RRR will get at least two Oscar nominations. The film is eligible to compete in several other categories, including Best Director, Best Music Score, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and more.
Vijayendra Prasad said, “I hope to get at least a couple of Oscar nominations.” In addition, he also opened up about a possible sequel to the blockbuster. SS Rajamouli asked him to write a story that would once again feature Ram Charan as Alluri Sitarama Raju and Jr NTR as Komaram Bheem.
Talking about the sequel, Rajamouli said at an event promoting RRR in Chicago, “I would absolutely love (to do a sequel). I can’t reveal many details about it, but my father, who has been the screenwriter of all my films including RRR… We have discussed it a bit and he is working on the story.”
Meanwhile, RRR is gaining more international recognition every day. Recently Rajamouli won New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Director.
