The film and TV awards will return to screens next month after NBC canceled the ceremony in January 2022 and major Hollywood studios and actors boycotted the event following a backlash over ethical lapses among organizers, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

In September, the Comcast-owned network said it would resume live coverage of the Globes, citing moves by organizers to address ethics and a lack of diversity among voters.
Carmichael, who in September won an Emmy Award for his show Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel follows in the footsteps of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Ricky Gervais, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon as hosts.
“His comedic talent entertained and enthralled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live in,” HFPA President Helen Hoehne said in a statement.
“Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show needs to kick off awards season.”
The ceremony on January 10 will be the 80th annual Globes. NBC said it had committed to airing the show for one year as part of the deal with the HFPA.
Following a Los Angeles Times investigation published in 2021, the HFPA was criticized for a lack of racial diversity among its members, and critics also raised questions about whether close ties to film studios may have influenced the selection of nominees and winners.
The HFPA responded with a wide range of measures, including new ethics guidelines. It welcomed 103 new electors from 62 countries outside the United States, bringing the total number of electors to 200.
According to NBC, the total voting population for the Golden Globe Awards is now 52% female and 51.5% racially and ethnically diverse, with members 19.5% Latino, 12% Asian, 10% Black and 10% Middle Eastern.
Nominations for the 2023 awards will be announced on Monday.
