RRR AND ACADEMY AWARDS
The creators of RRR are preparing for the Oscars. While RRR is not India’s official entry at this year’s Oscars, it was presented to the jury independently. Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli recently won the Best Director award for RRR at the New York Film Critics Circle.
Beating out Steven Spielberg, Darron Aronofsky, Sarah Polley and Gina Prince-Blythewood on the global stage, RRR is one of the first groups of critics to hit the awards season.
Actor RRR Ram Charan, who played the lead role in the film alongside Jr NTR, also congratulated SS Rajamouli for his big win at the New York Film Critics Circle Award. Calling it ‘deserved’, he tweeted, “CONGRATULATIONS!!! @ssrajamouli Garu 🙏🏼 on winning the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Director! Well deserved.. Thank you for taking Indian cinema to a global level.”
