Meta released its ‘Reels in review’ report on Monday to share some of the top 2022 reel trends in the country, where @mohsinyaba_’s ‘Enhance’ is the most used augmented reality (AR) effect, while the song ‘Srivalli’ by ‘Pushpa: The Rise movie is the most popular song.
“Since launching in 2020, Reels has changed the way people consume and create content on Instagram and Facebook,” said Meta.
“Our report highlights the themes, trends and moments that India enjoyed in 2022 and those that keep us excited for the year ahead,” he added.
More than 1 million Instagram reels related to the ICC T20 World Cup were created in India.
Film and serial content continued to imprint pop culture as people shared their interest in horror comedy ‘Bhediya’, American animated sitcom ‘Family Guy’, action thriller ‘Ek Villain Returns’, TV series ‘Naagin 6’, Tamil action thriller ‘Vikram’ ‘, web romantic drama series ‘Mismatched Season 2’ and an upcoming action film ‘Pathaan’.
“Music, both from our music library and original audio, was trending on Instagram and Facebook reels,” the company said.
Among the 20 most used songs on Instagram reels worldwide, 15 were by Indian artists.
There have been over 2 billion engagements (likes, comments and shares) on Instagram reels created in India.
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were the top three most mentioned Indian cricketers on the reels in the country.
Because ‘Current song on your mind? Don’t Skip” and “Don’t Cheat!! Show your lock screen!” were the most used stickers on Stories in the last 90 days.
