Van Mela to run from December 20 to 26 at Lal Parade Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the seven-day International Forest Fair on December 20 at 5 pm at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal. Minister of Forests Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah, Medical Education, Minister for Bhopal Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Vishwas Sarang, Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Dr. Prabhuram Chowdhary, Minister for Cooperation Dr. Arvind Bhadauria, Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Representative) Mr. Ramkishore Kavre and Madhya Pradesh, Administrator of Small Forest Federation, Shri JN Consotia will be specially present.
Van Mel’s specialties
This time, 300 sales stands are planned in Van Mela. These include stalls of herbal products from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Odisha, Maharashtra etc. There will be a live demonstration of herbal products especially from raw materials to pre-processed products and related techniques. Along with this, OPD stalls will be set up for medical consultation. More than 100 Ayurvedic Doctors/Vaidyas will be provided in this free medical consultation. A two-day workshop on “Self-sufficiency from small-scale forest production” will also take place. Along with experts from Bhutan, Nepal, the Philippines, experts from Madhya Pradesh and other states will also be able to present their views at the workshop. There will be a detailed discussion on the management and protection of small forest production.
Cultural programs will take place daily
Cultural programs, school children’s dance competition, painting competition, singing competition, masquerade, street games will be organized daily at the fair. There will also be a tribal folk dance and folk songs. The major performances included Bamboo Musical Band on 21st December, Kabir Cafe on 22nd December, Comedian Mr. Sunil Pal’s Show on 23rd December, program by famous singer Mr. Vinod Rathore on 24th December and presentation of Forest Department officers and staff on 25th December.
