South Indian diva Nayanthara hit out at young actress Malavika Mohanan who criticized her acting in a recent interview. In a previous interview, Malavika Mohanan noted how one female superstar acted in a hospital scene with full face makeup. She even wondered how someone could wear such heavy make-up while acting in a scene where a character is shown in critical condition. Meanwhile, Nayanthara asked if it is mandatory for a person to look disheveled even if he is admitted in a hospital. The icon on the screen said that she understood that Malavika was talking about her, although she did not name any names. Nayanthara commented that she likes to follow her directors’ directions and that she makes films to entertain the audience and not to impress the critics or reviewers.
“I saw an actress criticizing me for appearing in the whole hospital scene. Even though he doesn’t mention any names, I understand that he is talking about me. She said that I acted in the hospital scene with my face made up and that my hair and nails also looked perfect. Is it necessary for a person to look deliberately disheveled just because he is admitted to the hospital? Anyway, I haven’t seen anyone like that. Wouldn’t there be people to help keep the patient’s hair groomed or cared for? Furthermore, there are huge differences between realistic films and commercial films. In a realistic film, we may have to wear shabby clothes or act without make-up to look authentic in such a scene. However, in a commercial film, we can prepare to impress the audience. The said scene was from a commercial film. My character was styled strictly according to the director’s instructions. I am an actor who likes to follow the directions of my directors,” said Nayanthara.
“I play the role of a deaf girl in ‘Naanum Rowdy Thaan’. When Wiki told me the story, I imagined that I should play a role in the emotions of depression. When I came in with makeup that suits such a character, Wiki told me that my character doesn’t care that she’s deaf. She is free-spirited and likes to enjoy life to the fullest. In that movie, my ears are styled elaborately and also quite fashionably. That was the director’s vision. Whatever we do in films is for the audience. I choose each film to please the audience and not to impress critics or reviewers. Even when I hear about the nasty things that people who don’t like me say about me, I don’t pay attention to it. They criticize us all the time because they have a lot of free time. But I am extremely busy and don’t have time to notice these things. All I care about is the love that the audience shower on me,” said Nayanthara in a recent interview.
Malavika Mohanan made these controversial statements in an interview to promote her film ‘Master’. She was widely trolled by Nayanthara’s admirers on social media.
“Recently I saw a film in which a female superstar played the lead role. She acted in a hospital scene in which she is critical. But despite that, she was seen wearing full make-up. Not a single strand of hair was out of place. Even though it was a commercial film, she shouldn’t be a bit realistic in such scenes. How can someone perform with make-up and perfect clothes even in such an intense scene,” Malavika said in an interview.
