Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s upcoming film Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam has become one of the most anticipated films of 2023 since its world premiere at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala. The wait for the comedy drama will be over once the makers have announced the release date. It hits theaters on January 19, 2023.
Mammootty took to his social media account to announce the release date of Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. He also shared the poster of the film along with the release date. His tweet read, “#NanpakalNerathuMayakkam in theaters on 19th January 2023”.

Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam was loved by the audience when it premiered at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala. Many have given Lijo Jose Pellissery’s directorial glowing reviews. Renowned filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan called it “Liji’s best film so far”.
“The film doesn’t really fit into any of the genres we use. Lijo and Hareesh have weaved their genre together and make us travel to the worlds of James and Sundaram,” reads Forum Keralam’s review.
Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam is set against the backdrop of a Tamil village. Judging by the trailer, the drama troupe seems to be stuck in a village in Tamil Nadu after their bus breaks down. One of the important members of the group, played by Mammootty, takes a nap and wakes up as a different person. Now, whether he is possessed by the spirit of a dead villager remains to be seen.
Mammootty co-produced the film with Lijo Jose Pellissery. The duo is also working on a short film together as part of an upcoming Netflix anthology.
