Pop star Shakira and her former Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique have been in the news since it was revealed that the two have split after 12 years together. A new report claimed that Shakira is seemingly “devastated” after her fans spotted Gerard Pique’s new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, in an old Zoom interview video from 2021.
The said clip is from an interview Gerard did from his home in 2021. Page Six reported that the video was filmed at Gerard’s mansion, which he shared with Shakira, and they were said to be “happy together” at the time.
The ‘Hips Don’t lie’ singer is “devastated to learn that this woman clearly felt at home in the home they shared with their children,” a source told the publication.
According to the report, Gerard Pique conducted the Zoom interview while Shakira was away traveling with their children. An insider said: “They were still together at the time. It is devastating for her to learn that this affair has taken much longer than she imagined.’
Pique and Shakira announced their separation last June after 12 years together. Neither addressed claims that Pique was cheating on Shakira, but photos of Pique with another woman were published by Spanish outlet Socialite. Shakira described the breakup as “incredibly difficult” in her interview with Elle.
“I think these details are somehow too private to share, at least at this point – everything is so raw and new. All I can say is that I gave everything I had to this relationship and my family,” Shakira told Elle.
On New Year’s Day, Shakira wrote a post in Spanish and English. It read: “Though our wounds are still open in this new year, time is in the hands of the surgeon. Even when someone has betrayed us, we must continue to trust others. When faced with scorn, realize your worth. Because there are more good people than bad people. More people with empathy than indifference. Those who leave are fewer than those who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil from which our future springs, and make us more human, so that even when we suffer heartache, we can continue to love.”
The post was also in the news after Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo posted three red emoticons under Shakira’s post as a message of support.
