Hugh Jackman Packed on the pounds of muscle to portray the legendary character Wolverine in various X-Men movies, he recently admitted to Chris Wallace on HBO’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace that he never used steroids to transform into the character.
“Over the years, people have asked if he’s juiced?” Wallace asked in a report cited by Variety. “Did he take steroids?” “No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine,” Jackman said. “I have to be careful what I say here, but I’ve been told anecdotally what the side effects are. And I was like, ‘I don’t like it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way. And I tell you I ate more chicken – I feel so sorry for all the vegans and vegetarians and chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything to do with chickens, I’m in trouble.’
Elsewhere in the interview, Jackman admitted to foolishly studying wolves after taking the role before 2000, according to Variety, an American news source. X-Men.
“I’ve never read the comic,” Jackman said. “I got the part. I didn’t really know anything about…I didn’t know, we don’t have wolverines in Australia. I didn’t know it was a real animal. I’ve never heard of a wolverine. I thought it was a made up animal. You see, she has a man’s hands of steel, made up. And so I was walking through when I was auditioning in Imax, they had this documentary about wolves. And I was like, perfect, because obviously I’m a wolf, part wolf.”
“So I went [to set] with all these wolf movements and I was doing these movements and the director said, ‘What are you doing?'” Jackman added, “And I said, ‘Well, I just thought that wolves always look like that because “They actually smell, they have nose to the ground. That’s why they look like that all the time.” And he says, “What do you mean wolf?” And I said, ‘Well, you know, Wolverine — I’m part wolf, so…’ and he said, ‘No, you’re a wolverine.'”
According to a Variety report, Jackman will return as Wolverine in the next one Deadpool 3 a Marvel movie. Following the completion of Jackman’s run on The Music Man on Broadway, production on the comic book blockbuster is expected to begin in the spring.
