RRR plays on not being selected for India’s official entry to the Oscars
During an interview with an online portal, Jr NTR opened up about why their blockbuster movie RRR was not selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars. NTR told Variety: “I don’t think there’s a lot of politics going on with how the films should look. I think the jury sitting there knows what they do best… Hindi has primarily been the national language for a very long time, and that’s why he came to the limelight. For us, choose RRR or don’t choose RRR, RRR has already made us proud.” Ram Charan lightly added to the reply, “He (Jr. NTR) behaves really modestly, but I want these two awards… I just don’t want to slander it.”
He further talked about Hindi as the national language and said their Telugu film RRR they were proud of it, and it didn’t matter whether he was selected as India’s entry for the Oscars or not.

At the Golden Globes, SS Rajamouli’s RRR it could not win the award for best foreign language film, which was won by Argentina 1985 from Argentina. Apart from Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the film stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn as well as British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.
The worldwide blockbuster was co-written by SS Rajamouli and his father, screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad. The film released in India on 24 March 2022.
