Wedding bells rang in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday as locals went on a mission to arrange a wedding for two dogs, bonding their love forever. A seven-month-old female on Saturday Dog Jelly was harnessed behind Tommy as their owners and other people at the wedding danced to the beat of the drums.
According to ANI, the wedding witnessed the four-legged bride and groom being garlanded and later donning traditional pheras to seal the deal. The wedding took place on January 14 on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. Jelly and her owner Dr Ramprakash Singh left their home in Tikri Raipur to reach the wedding venue in Sukhravali village which is home to pet Tommy. How was the wedding?
The wedding started with the participants placing a tilak on Tommy’s forehead followed by a Baraat procession. After the rituals, Dog the duo was “serving dishes prepared with desi ghee.” “On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, we organized a wedding. Desi Ghee food was also distributed among neighborhood dogs. We spent about Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 on it,” Tommy’s owner said. To top it all off, the wedding was concluded with a Vidai ceremony.
A video shared of the wedding festivities on social media has garnered more than 33,000 views and several comments. In response, one Twitter user wrote: “I’m not making this up.” Another user joked “Incredible India”. A third user said: “And they lived happily ever after…The world should know how rich this country is where people can afford weddings with pets.”
