Kochi: South Indian film artiste Aparna Balamurali is appalled by the behavior of a student towards her at a function held at the Faculty of Law in Ernakulam a few days ago.
Reacting to the incident, Aparna said, “It is serious that the law student did not understand that touching a woman without her permission is not right. Making me stand up by grabbing my hand himself is not right. That’s when he tried to put his hands around my shoulders. This is not appropriate behavior towards a woman.”
“I don’t file a complaint just because I don’t have time to pursue it. I respond to such behavior by expressing my displeasure and disgust,” the actress said.
Aparna added that she had no problems with the organizers. They apologized and expressed regret immediately after the incident.
A video of the incident, which has gone viral, shows the student entering the stage, handing her a flower and shaking her hands. He then forcefully makes Aparna stand up. He then held her shoulders trying to click the photo. The visibly uncomfortable actress is seen squirming out of the way.
Aparna was at the Law Faculty to promote her upcoming film ‘Thankam’ along with other crew members.
The Law Faculty Union also expressed its deplorable behavior.
