For making every Indian proud at the global level, ‘RRR’ music composer MM Keeravaani has been awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour.
On Wednesday, the Government of India announced the Padma awardees, a day after MM Keeravaani’s hit ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ got an Oscar nomination.
Soon after the announcement, the ‘RRR’ music composer expressed his gratitude for the great honour.
Keeravaani expressed her gratitude on Twitter, writing, “Very honored by the civilian award from the Government of India.” On this occasion, respect to my parents and all my mentors, from Kavitapu Seethanna garu to Kuppala Bulliswamy Naidu garu.”

Apart from MM Keeravaani, actress Raveena Tandon was also awarded the Padma Shri. Meanwhile, Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and singer Vani Jairam are conferred with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan respectively.
MM Keeravaani and actress Raveena Tandon will receive the award later this year.
‘RRR’ is on a winning streak. Following the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards on January 24, the highly acclaimed film song “Naatu Naatu” received a nomination at the prestigious 95th Academy Awards, becoming the first song from an Indian film to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Song.
MM Keeravaani also made history at the Golden Globes as he won ‘Best Original Song’. The song also won the Critics’ Choice Award in the same category.
Talking about ‘RRR’, SS Rajamouli’s film won the critics’ award for ‘Best Foreign Language Film.’
